Quilters and Wine!

Beyond peanut butter and jelly, or cheese and crackers, what are common pairings that come to mind? Quilters and chocolate, definitely. And don't forget quilters and wine!

Our new collection, Wine Country, is definitely for Wine Lovers. A cool bottle stripe, grapes (of course), and two fun prints that take the idea of a "text print" to a whole new level. We're showing the fabrics with some coordinating colors from our Painter's Palette Solids collection as well.

Solids shown (l to r from top row): Old Green, Taupe, Bordeaux, Teal, Claret, Green Sheen and Mist

Don't forget the pre-quilted print--perfect for quick wine bags!

We've created a Wine Love Pinterest board, which includes not only a few fun sewing patterns (wine tote, wine bottle gift bags, a quilt...) but also some other fun wine-related ideas, such as ways to repurpose empty bottles and corks. Head over and take a look!

See the Wine Country collection here and ask for it at your local quilt shop.

It's Tulip Time again!

Happy (almost) spring!
Inspired by the appearance of tulips leaves and buds, we decided to refresh our Tulip Time wall hanging featured here last year. We chose four fun tulip colors (Lipstick, Bright Yellow, Sangria, and Tangerine) from our Painter's Palette Solids collection and paired them with Apple Green leaves and stems, and Waterfall for a background. Pretty and oh so springy!

Speaking of pretty, we couldn't resist taking this quick pick (it's also on Instagram!) of the trimmings created while piecing this top. Yum!

To change up this design a little from the original, we want to use a different color for the outer border rather than just repeating the background color. We photographed four choices below. What do you think? Like something completely different? Browse our solids and let us know in the comments below.

See last year's version (using the geometric prints of Graphix 3) and find the tutorial so you can make your own Tulip Time version here.

More Watermelon Summer Charity Quilts!

Back in early September, we hosted the Watermelon Summer New Block Blog Hop featuring our Prairie Cloth Solids in conjunction with Yvonne @Quilting JetgirlCheryl @Meadow Mist DesignsTerri Ann @Childlike Fascination, and Stephanie @Late Night Quilter

After the hop ended, these four ladies collected all of the blocks with plans to assemble them into quilts for charity.

Today we have two more to show you, assembled by Cheryl. She chose to make the 24 blocks she received into two quilts, one sashed and one not.

Q. How did you decide on the layouts?
CB: I had initially planned to add sashing to each quilt, but when I was arranging the blocks, I really liked all of the blocks right next to each other.  Since I was making two quilts, I decided to make one with sashing and one without.

Q. Tell us about the quilting.
CB: I used my favorite go-to Aurifil color 2600 Dove for the quilting to blend well with all of the different colors. I quilted the unsashed version with a simple meander and the sashed version using a few different quilting motifs (see a few of my favorites here).

Q. Where are these quilts being donated?
CB: I will donate the two quilts through my local guild, the Foothills Piecemakers Quilt Guild.  Both quilts will go to the Serenity House which is a organization that provides women who are struggling with addiction and their children housing, food, and support.  Most of the women and children show up with little to nothing and truly appreciate the quilts.

See Cheryl's post about her two quilts here.
See Yvonne's two finished charity quilts here.

Thank you Cheryl and everyone who participated in the hop! (Cheryl's post includes a list of who did each block in the two quilts.)

A little Row by Row inspiration!

We announced a while back that we are a Fabric Palette Program Member for the 2016 Row by Row Experience. We are super excited to be on board with this fun event, and look forward to seeing what quilters make using our palette of ten colors from the Leather collection.

Our official Row by Row Palette: a rainbow of Leather prints:

As you probably know, this year's theme is "Home Sweet Home." While we can't wait to see the row designs that participating quilt shops come up with, we were also inspired to create our own story quilt concept just for fun--five rows that illustrate the idea that home is where you make it.

We hope you enjoy our "Home Sweet Home" quilt idea.
*Please note--this is not a pattern--it's simply a quilt we've designed and will be showcasing in our booth at Quilt Market. Watch for Home Sweet Home patterns at your local quilt shop this summer!

Looking back at QuiltCon

In case you missed our pictures on Facebook and Instagram, here's a quick tour of our booth at QuiltCon.

We showcased Shannon Brinkley's Dryad collection, as well as our Painter's Palette Solids collection. In addition to showing off quilts and small projects made from these lines, we also had samples--we know how much quilters like to touch fabric!

One showstopper in the booth was our Painter's Palette Solids. As we invited people into our booth to spin our wheel for prizes, we had them feel the solids. They thought they were just going to feel another piece of cotton, as any other...but then they would stop and their entire demeanor would change as they began to pet the fabric. "This is REALLY NICE" was a quote we heard over and over! (We think so too! If you haven't been introduced to our solids yet, ask for them at your local quilt shop.)

A sample quilt--"Focus"--by Elizabeth Eastmond made with our Painter's Palette Solids.

Shannon's "Drifting Leaves" quilt, made with a snack pack. You can download the free pattern for this quilt here.

Shannon and her Dryad fabrics were a huge hit in our booth. Many people already knew her and had her "Scrappy Bits Applique" book. They loved her free demo!

Mini quilts made using Shannon's scrappy bits applique technique using Painter's Palette and Dryad fabrics.

It was a great show...lots of fun and excitement for seasoned quilters as
well as new quilters and friends of quilters who didn't even sew! It seemed like everyone had a great time, and we had so much fun meeting people and introducing them to our company and new products.

Free Quilt Pattern! + Dryad Blog Hop Winners

We first shared this quilt back in the fall after it hung in our Quilt Market booth. Now we're excited to share the pattern with you, so you can make it yourself!

Introducing
"A Flutter of Color"
designed by Linda Frost and patterned by Reeze L. Hanson
Download the free quilt pattern here.

This quilt is made exclusively from our new Painter's Palette Solids collection. Linda selected a variety of earth tones, blues and golds for the background, with a few shots of unexpected color. The different width strips create a modern, textured feel.

As for the butterflies, these aren't simply your basic body-with-two-wings sketch. Look closely, and you'll see different shapes based on actual butterflies. Featured species include: glow, big blue, moth, swallow, popcorn, princess, and monarch. Don't you love the extra detail created by the quilting?

Find and download the free quilt pattern here.
