Hello, Summer: New Frolicking Fields fabrics

We're feeling the summer vibe with our Frolicking Fields fabric collection! Gorgeously detailed butterflies, wildflowers and ladybugs, plus a spring green tonal coordinate....warm and sunny days, here we come!

We used these feminine prints to make a few travel necessities. The Clearly Cute Beauty Cases pattern from Indygo Junction includes instructions to make an insulated Hot Iron Holder and two sizes of vinyl cases. So fun with butterflies! Purchase the pattern here.

Wildflowers and butterflies on a Hot Iron Holder:

This cool vinyl case lets you see what's inside. Perfect for makeup, hair accessories, or even a small sewing project!
Frolicking Fields isn't all butterflies and ladybugs. it's filled with creepy crawlies as well: crickets, lightning bugs, caterpillars, frogs and bees.

What can you make with bug prints? Make a drawstring backpack for your favorite explorer, a comfy I-spy quilt for car trips or a pillowcase. Our recommendation: Sew this twist on the classic bugs-in-a-jar quilt by Maria Pate.

Sewing Inspiration from QuiltCon

QuiltCon was packed so many quilts to see (we showed you the quilts in our booth here), but modern fabrics are fantastic for sewing projects as well, and today we'll be showing you some of our favorites.

Our friends from Indygo Junction, another Kansas City-based company, shared our QuiltCon booth. We love seeing our fabrics made into clothing, accessories, and dimensional home decor!

Check out the sweet Moon Rabbit print Slumber Party PJs on the right. They go beautifully with Jacquie Gering's quilted wall art just to the left.

It's like walking into a clothing boutique!

The Essentials Shift Dress looks cool and casual made up in Simone Bradford's On Your Mark fabric:

Moon Rabbit prints show up beautifully in the Faceted SphereNavette Needlecase and Origami Pouch.

Stunning Centerpiece Stars made in Painter's Palette Solids and Walkabout II. Fabriflair Stabilizer comes with a free pattern to make the ornament at right!

It's not just adults--these girls were fascinated by dimensional fabric art!

Here's On Your Mark designer Simone Bradford modeling a top made using her fabric (see the Mad Money bag on the mannequin made from the same clamshell fabric!)

Make your own star with Fabriflair!

We shared a booth with another Kansas City company, Indygo Junction at Quilt Market. Indygo Junction was founded by Amy Barickman and she recently developed a new brand for her pattern company, Fabriflair.  We fell in love with Fabriflair and coordinated efforts with Amy to showcase Paintbrush Studios fabric in Fabriflair projects for the show.

With Christmas around the corner, it seems like the right time to share their stars and ornaments. Initially Indygo Junction introduced six kits with mat board templates to cover and hand stitch and most recently a sew by machine method was introduced featuring Fabriflair Stabilizer.

Fabriflair Patterns are dimensional fabric projects based off English Paper Piecing.
The Fabriflair Stabilizer is used in all of our Fabriflair patterns and allows for machine stitching. This also makes it easy to decorate stars with beads, sequins, buttons, and notions for extra dazzle on the tree!  Amy shares information about the stabilizer in this video.

What a fabulous tree topper!
Make tree toppers & ornaments for friends & family. Endless options - hang as a group or individually, or add a star to a wreath for an accent of color & pattern.  Stitch by hand or use our machine stitch technique for a fast & easy finish....

Stars shown in the metallic gold enhanced coordinates from our Mayfair fabric collection.

There are three sizes in the Tree Topper and Ornament Pattern for big and small trees alike; its also perfect for adding flair to wreaths.

Add new ornament to your tree! The pattern for this ornament is available for free inside the Fabriflair Stabilizer 6 Pack. Choose your fabrics and add beads!

Fall Quilt Market Recap

You may have seen sneak peeks of our Houston Quilt Market booth on Facebook or Instagram; we're offering the full recap here!

First, an overview:
Much of our booth's focus was on our Painter's Palette Solids (168 colors!). The booth included a Pop Up Shop where quilt shop owners could purchase precuts or yardage to take home and sell in their shops.

We collaborated with Indygo Junction on a booth this year. If you're not familiar with Amy Barickman and all the patterns Indygo Junction has to offer, check out her website! All of their displays are made from our fabric.

Now, the close-ups of the quilts...what you've been waiting for!

QuiltCon: Demo Central

Continuing our QuiltCon recap:
Besides eye candy and shopping, plenty of learning goes on at QuiltCon!

We were thrilled to have the lovely Amy Barickman of Indygo Junction in our booth, demonstrating how to make her Fabri Flair technique. Find her ornament pattern here and dimensional star pattern here.

We had one of her Dimensional Star samples in the booth, and it generated a lot of attention!

Amy used our Painter's Palette Solids to get started on a new ornament:

 Handstitching edges together:

Lisa Ruble shared two demonstrations using our Painter's Palette Solids as well. The first was Mod Illusions: The 3Ds of Quilts Made with Solids.

Lisa's Diamond Drama quilt, made with shades of gray, orange, lime, teal and purple:

More illusion quilts displayed in our booth:

Mod Tumbler--a modern take on the classic tumbling block design:

Lisa's second demo was Making Wonky Mini Four-Patches, using our pre-cut 2-1/2" square Paint Chips.
