(not five golden rings!)
A tutorial for a table runner and placemats made by Connie of Freemotion by the River, using Ro Gregg's Tis The Season collection:
Connie:
I am excited to be a part of the 12 Days of Christmas here at Inspired by Fabric! I used the beautiful Christmas fabrics Tis The Season by Ro Gregg to create a table runner and place mats that will be perfect for the holidays. The floral print used on the back of the runner and place mats can make these reversible.
The finished size of the table runner is 18 x 40 inches and starts with three 10 inch blocks. The place mats are 12 x 16 inches. I hope you enjoy the tutorials!
Materials needed:
1 yard dark red #8258
1 yard cream #8257
1 1/2 yard floral print #8254
Sew with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Make 2 blocks with red as the main color and 1 block with green main color.
Cut the following for each block:

Each block uses 5 of these.
Continue adding the corner pieces to the 1 3/4 x 3 inch pieces. Look at the diagram to see which way the angle goes. There are also 2 - 1 3/4 inch x 6 3/4 inch pieces.
Here are the piece laid out for part of the block. You will make 2 of these.
This is the center of the block.
Continue piecing together. Follow the diagram for placement.

ReplyDeleteI'm might have had a little hiccup in my assembly. My final long border (1 1/2 x 40) was too short if I cut it at 40". If I did the math correctly, 34.5 inner border + 2 @ 2.5 squares (less .5 for seams) + 1 1/2 x 2 (less .5 for seams) = 41".
ReplyDeleteThe table runner turned out beautifully. Thanks for a great pattern. It was well written and easy to follow.
Really nice. I could use this.
