Pillowcase Sew-a-thon and Giveaway!

Our post today is all about pillowcases in honor of the 24-Hour Sew-a-thon being put on by American Patchwork & Quilting for the One Million Pillowcase Challenge! Check out some of our favorite pillowcases using our fabric, and then be sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom for a chance to win one of three fabric kits to make pillowcases for charity. Now for the giveaway! Each of these bundles includes enough fabric to make two pillowcases, which we hope you'll donate to the One Million Pillowcase Challenge. For a chance to win a bundle, sign up to follow our blog (see options in the right hand sidebar--either by email or through a blog reader) and leave a comment letting us know you're a follower, as well as if you've ever made a pillowcase before.   7. I've made pillowcases as gifts for family members, and a couple of Christmases ago I sent pillowcases to my brother serving in Afghanistan, for him and his buddies. I subscribe to your newsletter.

  17. I've made quite a few pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer. My weekly sewing group take one day a month and make pillowcases and quilts for various charities. My favorite pattern is the "hotdog" method. I love the French seams. Thanks for sponsoring this event and for the giveaway.

  18. I'm following, and I've made a few pillowcases in my time, but made my first "nice" one today for the APQ sew-a-thon! I'm very happy with the French seam method they shared, such a nice finished look. Thank you for the opportunity to make some more!

  25. I follow through e-mail and bloglovin'. I have made several pillowcases. At a quilter's retreat we had a challenge to see how many pillowcases we could make in an hour. I think we were around 135.

  30. I am a follower and yes I have made lots of pillowcases. I like to "wrap" my quilt gifts in a pillowcase. 2 gifts for one and isn't that a nicer wrapping paper?

I love to make pillowcases, I make them for the grand kids, for my home (just to have some fun ones around) and I've made them for pillow case challenges for hospitals. I also try to pick out some local children that just need to have a little happy boost in their lives and send them a few. It's amazing how just a little thing makes them smile.

  34. I am a follower and yes I have made pillowcases before. I would donate them to Sick Kids Hospital. My 6 year old granddaughter just received one, she had major surgery last week and hasn't been doing so good. The one she got put a smile on her face. Thanks for the chance to put a smile on another little face.

  43. Yes I've made the Presentation Case for a Quilt of Valor, which is the "sausage roll" pillowcase. It's so easy and too fun to make a pillow case. I love teaching it too!

  46. I started making pillowcases for this program, a few years ago. Great fun. I also made 30 pillowcases for a friend's son to take on a Peace Corp assignment and I understand the recipients GREATLY appreciated them.

  48. I'm following on Bloglovin' as AQuiltedPassion. A couple of weeks ago I helped my grandson make a pillowcase using a Tube Pillowcase Tutorial found on YouTube. It was my first experience making a pillowcase and it was sew easy! Thanks for the chance to win!

  51. Love making pillowcases. One year I made pillowcases for my grandchildren and used them instead of wrapping paper for Christmas. I had extra so they were donated to one million pillowcases. Would love to do that again. Thanks. I used to get the newsletter, I've signed up again.
